married men without children at higher risk to die from heart disease after age 50 than older men with 2 or more children, researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine, National Cancer Institute Baylor College of Medicine and the University of California, San Francisco using data from the NIH -AARP and Health Study, according to researcher 137 903 men aged 50-71 years without cardiovascular disease followed by about 10.2 years previously.

The study found 92% of participants had children at least 1 child and 50% had 3 or more children, men without children have increased 17% risk of death due to cardiovascular disease that developed during the study period.
